conversations

At the hospital last month:

Betty: O ano raw?

Ria: No U.T.I. naman but my back is sooo bad that I had contractions. Normal naman ultrasound and heartbeat.

Betty
: Sinabi mo na ba sa kanila hindi ka normal?

*Toink

In Manila last week:

Kris: Galit si Dad na hindi ako umuwi sa Ilocos.

Ria
: I’m sorry talaga.  I can’t do all your errands here anymore eh (buy and carry 100 shirts sa Divisoria; get giant tarps for the Ilocos bike event). Besides, it might not be safe to travel yet as andito pa typhoon Ketsana. Call them back and tell them to blame me for this bad judgment call — I am evil to them naman, so what is an additional blame, di ba?

Kris
: Next time, hon, I cannot heed pleas to stay pag-uuwi na ako ng ilocos ha.

Ria: Okay. Even when I give birth na, I will not even compel you to go to Manila at baka magalit na naman pamilya mo sa akin. Tatawagan na lang kita if you have a son or a daughter.

*Not joking.

a review of crappy Windmills and Rainforest

Attended a wedding reception at this small air-conditioned ‘garden’ venue yesterday and i wasn’t very happy with the place/service…no make that, I was pissed at the place.

1. food is just so-so; like ordinary caf food for me (honestly, this really came to mind as I was eating and way before the maddening part happened);

2. the arrangement of the tables is quite lousy and poor ang sound system, such that, those situated at the back (like us) no longer see nor hear the program happening in front;

3. there are two buffet areas; the sister of the groom said, the food at the front buffet area was not replenished in accordance with the contract;

4. icky, i saw a big cockroach sa floor by the buffet area;

5. the service people need to be trained to be courteous — they hardly smile and do not greet at all. somehow, i can’t totally blame them, they look dead tired. although the wedding reception I attended was just about 4-5 hours only;

6. the owner of the place said they are very strict with the people entering the venue — all guests need to register first —> what is the point of this policy when they do not even have a security guard (management even admitted they do not have security guards)?!

My car was properly parked at their parking area, and it was horribly bumped by another guest’s car. No security guard to witness so and to stop that horrible driver to take responsibility with the damage he/she did to my car! I know the Civil Code of the Philippines states that establishments are responsible for damages sa property ng patrons ah…all the more with negligent ones such as this venue for not even hiring a security guard to secure the vicinity. Buti sana if sa kalye ako naka-park eh! At the end of the day, the establishment did not own up responsibility and I just ended up being a victim of a hit-and-run.

Although the venue has good air-conditioning, substantial setting/food, prolly affordable packages, I advice everyone to keep away from this place. My hubby was even saying it was quite inconceivable that a wedding reception venue does not have security…lalo na mga events na ganito maraming possibleng nakawan (ng regalo at ng mga gamit ng mga bisita na hindi nababantayan).

Oh, I did not see any windmill nor did the place remind me of any rainforest. So do not be misled by the crappy name.

Photo: the lousy bangga sa vehicle namin. No, I’d rather not even post a photo of the place and ‘advertise’ them pa!

earthdate 070109: Blasted Unionbank

WTF?!

Months back, I had my Unionbank credit card (the company just sent so, taking info from my Ateneo Alumni Association application) cancelled despite not using it even once — horrible service, unfair charges, and the most inefficient customer service cold-line!

Weeks back, Unionbank called saying they have a new type of card and as an old member, they can renew my membership if I agreed. I said, no thanks…why should I subject myself to headaches again (yes, I did utter those words).

And then i receive this via snail mail?

I am so insulted. What application?  I never ever applied!  In fact, I declined them!  So, why did they “processed” my alleged application — hindi ba ito some sort of fraud/identity theft?  Where can I complain about this?

And no, Kris and I aren’t with one yet.  Busy scheds, stress, and distance of 500+ kilometers really took their toll on us.  With the National Elections fast approaching, the plans of having one is now currently on hold. Realistically speaking, it would be difficult for both of us if we should give birth/be heavily pregnant sometime in April or May.

Thus, on to the next KARB project muna…we will definitely be knocking at your door for help, support, and prayers. Thank you in advance na rin :o)
