omg, after a cat talk last week, i can’t believe i actually ran over an orange cat today —- accidentally (promise!).

unbelievable.  i was just going 30kph along merville access road when zoom, the cat headed straight for Wudju’s wheels!  i didn’t even have time to react (to think i was really minding how i was going, not even texting nor talking on my mobile phone, or twitching with my nano/radio); i just felt like i hit a small bump on the road with a corresponding ‘thug-dug’ sound.  however, when i looked at my rear view mirror, nothing was left ’splattered’ on the road…so i didn’t stop na.  when i got home, ‘nothing’ was stuck in my wheels din naman.

so i guess i just ‘crippled’ the said feline.

ey, please let me believe that… i’m still shaky with the whole experience.  shucks.

Since mid-June, I’ve been asking about my “transfer” papers in the office, to which I get the reply: “sa admin, sa admin.”  Not wanting to be a prima donna about the matter, I became less persistent about my follow-ups.  However, last Friday, my officemate from HRET, who was transferred as I, already got her clearance sheet (to think that came all the way from the HR in QC).  Baffled, I finally inquired directly from the admin about my clearance (to think PET is part of SC).  I was told they no longer have it. After a series of calls, I finally traced the blasted paper in the Property Office.  It had been there since June 19 — almost a month ago already! Wha da?!  Arg talaga, no one even bothered to inform me about a certain glitch in said department despite me previously asking about my clearance sheet.  Today, I called the Property Office to make sure everything was ironed out already as I was told and to inquire na rin where my clearance sheet will go to next (so I can follow up from that office din).  The answer: they do not know as the person in-charge wasn’t around.  And so I asked around, customarily, where do clearance sheets go after the Property Office.  The collective reply: "I do not know."  To think, I’m not the first person in our office who ever underwent this kind of transfer.  Arg!  I’m at my wits’ end na talaga; ako na nga maglalakad ng papers ko, but no one can even point the proper direction I should take.

Government bureaucracy at its purest form — in my very office, in our very institution!  Hay, trust no one to do something for others properly and with expediency.

Gawd, I wonder when I’d be over this whole “transfer” process?  It’s been almost two months! Yeah, obviously, I’m so pikon right now L.

Resolution:  guidance from Jove’s office….again!  I just can’t believe this!

Hp 2hours and 20mins long.  having read the book is a plus to understand the story and remember the characters (dumadami na rin kasi).  somewhat entertaining, but i’d hedge it’s not captivating enough for non-readers-of-harry-potter-books to enjoy. the kids have grown!  hmmm, i wished for a prettier cho.

when we came out of the movie house, i only had one thought in mind….Transformers pa rin! hehehe.

it’s been a long running joke already that i was really born under an unlucky star that it’s quite usual for "bad luck superstitions" to follow me like i’m some kind of a magnet for them.

case in point (as i mentioned in my previous entries): on my way home (both in our present house and in our old apartment before), a black cat would always run across the road in front of me.  funny, ‘coz i really feel someone employs these feline and cues them to run when they see me approaching na (no matter what vehicle i am into).

anyway, going to the point of this current entry:  tonight, no black cat ran across the road; rather an unmoving black cat lay in the middle of our street.

hala! namatay na isa sa kanila!

hep, hep, hep!  before you point an accusing finger towards me, i vehemently deny having anything to do with said death.

my theory — siguro sobra nang na-guilty yung cat na yun sa pag-ha-harass sa akin kaya nagpatiwakal na. ha-ha :o)

just the same, i strongly believe no bad luck can ‘destroy’ me now……lucky year ko ngayon eh!  boooyeah!

my nano is prolly sooooo confused right now — blasting korean, japanese, spanish, hawaian, and beatboxing music in to my ears! riafanaticism, to the next level nanaman :p

  • I changed the cars’ wiper blades.  Yeah, I just saved a few hundred bucks, but the satisfaction over ‘my accomplishment’ is priceless.  Hehehehe, ang babaw talaga J!

  • Next in line for repair is another bathroom basin — dang, I discovered one that leaks na rin when I got back from Ilocos (it didn’t naman before I left).  Nyahay!

  • Service road is still under construction.  The unbelievable thing now is, my back route (airport perimeter) is also under construction!  Talaga naman o!  Kung kelan rainy season na and nag-start na academic year, dun pa ginawa both ways out of the village! Arrrrrg!

  • Wow, the Carlo’s Pizza in Moonwalk, Parañaque is now open.  Kris and I tried it out na…and happy, it got the Baguio-taste din!

  • My May x-ray results did not register any significant changes.  After undergoing a six-month medication regime, my pulmonologist concludes that what the radiologists may be ‘reading’ are just my old lung scars.  To put a period to the whole medical thing, I gotta make my old hospital dig my records from the ‘90s and compare with my present plates.  Good luck to me with this!

  • Still weak from the flu. Sige na nga, will take a flu shot na rin kasi I seem to get sick quarterly na talaga.  I’ve sided with the theory kasi that flu shots aren’t really that great ‘coz they will mask possible indications of other sickness in the body.  When something is medically wrong with someone, the first manifestation is usually a fever.  With having taken a flu shot, ma-ru-rule out na agad yung fever, so wala na yung initial warning signal of ‘something is wrong’ with the body; thus, matatagalan pang konti pag-detect nung medical problem.  Of course, hindi naman ako doctor to know these for sure.  Hehehehe J

  • Some close friends (uh huh, in plural form) texted me on July 2-4 asking for some unusual stuff.  Akala ko birthday greetings; hindi pala and none at all figured in the sms-exchange.  Hahahahaha, assuming ako sobra J

I sat through an episode of Grey’s Anatomy Kris was watching last month (I reiterate, I am not a fan).  The said episode was the one where George O’Malley’s father died (Six Days, Part II - Release Date: 2007-01-08).

I couldn’t help but cry when George’s family took the life support off the elder O’Malley.  The scene was so achingly familiar — hearing the continuous beeping; seeing the flat line; everyone gathered around the hospital bed, helpless and grieving…

I was with Papa when he fell into a coma, when the last of his life-support medicines dripped, when they covered him in white hospital linen, and when they wheeled him out of his room in the hospital the final time.

Happened almost four years ago already, but it’s still pains me when I remember the whole episode.

CRISTINA: "There’s a club. The Dead Dads Club. And you can’t be in it until you’re in it. You can try to understand, you can sympathize. But until you feel that loss… My dad died when I was nine. George, I’m really sorry you had to join the club."

GEORGE: "I… I don’t know how to exist in a world where my dad doesn’t."

CRISTINA: "Yeah, that never really changes."

    http://www.greysanatomyinsider.com/quotes/episodes/six-days-part-ii/page_2.html

What Cristina said is true.  In my barkada, Lains and I are doubly bonded with our respective losses of our fathers, being Papa’s girls at that.

Like George, I also didn’t know how to exist in a world where my dad doesn’t.

Now, I know that world.  I still don’t like it, but there is nothing I can do but to exist in it.

    Happy Fathers’ Day, Papa.
