Bacarra votes were the last officially tallied in the provincial capitol, with RRA and KRA garnering more votes than their opponents.  Three days after, Mayor Philip Velasco was murdered (see Kris’ blog for some details regarding this).

Scanning through my campaign photos, I found this one of Kris speaking in the very same auditorium where Mayor Velasco was shot (this photo was taken after the May 12 motorcades).  Scrolling through my mobile phone, I saw Mayor Velasco’s number (saved by Kris before).  Remembering my visits in Ilocos during the past election seasons, I get mental pictures of Mayor Velasco meeting RRA in the big house or us eating with him in the kitchen.

Because of what happened to Mayor Velasco, I no longer feel safe in Ilocos Norte.  I fear for RRA, KRA, and the rest of their family/relatives. 

I condemn the above crime and pray for justice to prevail.
