baby steps: first the audi. then audi and chapel. then audi, chapel, ahrc, and rex.

tadah!

in fact, i was so happy to have seen sina arpee, kuya ryan, sir chochoy, mang nats  and the books of rex bookstore (how nerdy), irene of thesis center, ms. garin of the campus ministry, friends from the lower batches, and some batchmates (edcel and iyok <——– yoki!!!! super na-miss kita. hahaha, true to form, wednesday nanaman tayo nagkita).

heck, i even bought Manila Bulletin (again) yesterday — yes, my (complete!) name is in the SC reso!

way past the embarrassment.

to aptly describe, i’m a little kaba now (after all, SEptember na!)….but at the same time i’m ‘kebs’ na rin (bahala na si batman).

i guess it helps a lot to know that i have a happy life and a great job after the bar. lessens the pressure of the unknown future.

see, there are rainbows in this storm.

The Ateneo Blue Eagles entered the season as one of the preseason favorites. After winning a nailbiter against lowly NU Bulldogs on Opening Day, the Eagles went on a 8-game winning streak, sweeping the first round, and surviving squeakers against Adamson and FEU, and blowing out UST by 36 points on the first round finale.

The second round was more of the same, when Ateneo again survived another 1-point game against the Falcons. However, they were dealt with their first loss in an overtime loss against the Growling Tigers, who were without three players due to injuries and ailments. Despite the loss, the Eagles are assured of a twice-to-beat advantage at the semi-finals.

a handful of people personally told me they read my blog. are they for real?! TOINK!!!  suddenly got conscious of what i put here. seriously :o)

zeena even said she did not see me nor expected i’m the ‘blogger’ type.  hmmm. what’s a ‘blogger’ type?

as i said before, i write here to quiet the many ‘voices-saying-useless-thoughts-and-taking-so-much-braincell-space/capacity’ in my head.  and during bar season, i write to wake me up (getting up in the wee hours of the morning and suddenly read books isn’t exactly a sudden dose of sunshine, y’know). do these habits typify me as "blogger"?

oh well, even this stream of thought wastes precious braincell-space/capacity.

back to books, ria :o)

  • it wasn’t that bad going to school. either ok na talaga ako, or numb na ko, or kapalmuks na rin (<—- hahaha). no, but seriously, it’s actually fine to be back in school (and powerplant; super big diff from robplace; but more expensive parking fee!).  big help that zeena and lester are there.  i thought it would be awkward to see lowerbatch ahrc people who used to bar-ops for me as my co-barristers already…but they were great — no ‘weird’ looks, in fact they even had more words of encouragement.  then since there were quite a number of ateneans who also did not make it last year, somehow there’s comfort that some people in the audi knows what i’m going through (it can happen to me, it can happen to you…); although zeena knows best of my trauma. oh, and seeing atty. manuel is a bonus! haha.
  • got my permit already!  thanks, jove for following up and letting me whine a bit to you again, hehe.  dropped by my office as well, they were surprised i’m "back" already. haha. they told me most of them would be supervisors during the bar.  wow, happy — more familiar faces in dlsu!

remembering papa…as we commemorate his third death anniversary.

  • today is the start of pre-week.  courage to go to school; courage to face people!
  • bothersome embarrassment: i saw my name on the ateneo barristers floor tarp when zeena and i got our B.E. number. dang, three years na ah!  double dang for zeena ‘coz they still misspelled her name!
  • i am super happy with the good tidings brought by Lains.  Keep the positive outlook and 2007 will be a real good year for us, my friend.
  • another happy news: wedding of faye and roy on October 10!  ang sad lang i can’t actively help in the preps now. sigh*
  • betty is out the entire week: in la union now, dagupan next.  grabe, her driving skills remain superb — only 4 hours to get to la union from manila (normally, one takes 7 hours)!
  • the rains this season has created a lot of moisture in the atmosphere.  consequently, almost all wooden and leather stuff at home have molds (shey and kris said the same goes in the their houses).  eeeeww and baho (kulob smell)!  mini-solutions: clean and put charcoal inside cabinets/bookshelves (for moisture absorption).
  • nanang’s asthma is getting worse; ditto with my rhinitis.  to eliminate a possible cause, i had the foam beds replaced (old and with the weather nowadays, parang kulob smelling).  sudden expenses…pikit mata na nga lang.  necessary kasi rin naman; besides, papa said god will provide (in my case, DBM should release my check soon!)
  • goodness, 2 quarters of missed haircut! i just can’t wait for october na talaga (well, with my list of things to do, parang i can’t wait ’til november na nga lang talaga)!
  • sniffling lately.  but i can’t take ascorbic acid ‘coz docs said to avoid acidic stuff. the meds are making my tummy ache — i hope they are really making it well ‘coz the pain is just horrible today!

i spoke with jove about my quick trip to the hospital.

he said, he experienced the same thing early lawschool days.  heartburn nga rin daw ata ang dahilan.

whew, i am not alone. what a relief to be ‘normal.’

hahaha, jove, mag-pinsan nga talaga tayo sa totoong buhay siguro!  <— we have this running ’story’ in the institution that we’re cousins to stop people from his office of mistaking me for Anj and people at my office of mistaking him for Kris.  Haha, wag lang nilang tanungin the real relation lines from his mom at another office in the same institution, magtataka lang yun na ‘pamangkin’ pala niya ako.

who would have thought i’d end up strapped to an ECG machine in the Emergency Room of Makati Medical Center today?!

to begin with, i had a wonderful day at the office.  but near the end of my quick dinner with Kris at Luk Yuen Magallanes (as it was on my way home and i had to get some stuff from him anyway), my chest suddenly felt constricted.  initially, i dismissed it as ordinary heartburn.  but the pain did not go away.  worse, i was having difficulty in breathing and i’m losing my balance.  my arms and face felt hot, then all my limbs felt numb.  a few minutes after, my whole body started shaking.

I tried to calm myself, loosened my belt and bra (as i remembered from a first aid treatment guide). told kris and betty what i was feeling prior (to tell the doctors in the event i pass away) and asked them to pray.  i too, began to pray because what’s happening to me is weird and i’m getting real scared.  i’ve never had these symptoms before, so not familiar and can’t comprehend.  i was trying hard not to lose my focus because i’m afraid of what might happen — will i still wake up?  kawawa naman si kris to deal with me unconscious or not breathing.  and funny vain thought:  gosh, nakakahiya naman if i create a ’scene’ in the restaurant ‘coz i can never go back there again without embarrassment!

Kris told me we’d go na to the hospital.  for someone who hates hospitals, i badly wanted to rush to one right away.  when finally, i felt confident to stand (with great difficulty), we went to MMC.

My ECG came out normal.  Doctors’ prognosis — it’s just gastroesophageal reflux disorder or massive case of heartburn!  prolly due to diet and stress daw.

hmmm…

promise, i am not anxious.  i know what ri-anxiety is and how i am now isn’t how it can be.  yes, the exams will begin next week, but, i’m already in the process of surrendering my fate to the one up there.

betty said, compounded complications na raw kasi.  to begin with, i have weak stomach already due to hyperacidity since high school.  combine that with bad genes, unhealthy lifestyle, and the stress i always have.

the doctors told me to see a gastrologist as well. dang.  in the meantime, i should take the medications they prescribed.  shucks, i recognized the meds…i just threw a bunch of them because they’ve become expired.  they are like papa’s meds post-surgery and when his stomach was no longer functioning properly due to the spread of his cancer.

hmmm…

last day in the office and into my month-long leave.  some of  my officemates gave me a "send-off" lunch and everyone wished me luck with hugs and handshakes. tough to leave — i’d truly miss everyone and my blue cube.  For_blog_1 then, bane dropped by the office to give me a momento from her own cube.  it’s the last time i’m gonna see her in the institution ‘coz she’d be gone when i get back.  sooo sad, got teary eyes.  finally, i dropped by jove’s office to give mga huling bilin re my admin stuff (yup, my papers and salary still not completely adjusted).  i’d truly miss bugging jove with my daily whines and legal discussions.

as i walked out of our gate, i looked at our seal and flag…until next month!  i can’t wait for my next rollos (case files)!
