November, 2005

some more minutes sa internet shop eh

  • is it just me or grabe na ang spam/bulk mail?  i get a ridiculous number of these stupid and nasty emails daily.  the heck?
  • will watch chicken little tomorrow. naku, with all the hype i’m putting into it, sana hindi ako ma-disappoint after watching.
  • kris and some friends of mine plan to have a garage sale next week.  sort of like "ok-ukay" (unused stuff namin sold cheaply; and some used but great stuff pa rin na priced like ‘pamigay’ na).  to free clutter na rin sa mga cabinets namin, earn a bit, and at the same time mapasaya some neighbors (target market mga househelp, but welcome din everyone) at si nanang (at may mapagkaabalahan siyang happy) :o)
  • so drained today.  i am doing some work na parang ayaw ko ang kinakalabasang ending/conclusion ko.
  • dang, December na bukas! incidentally, birthday of one of my cousins and AIDS day.

november 30

i caught the 6pm mass today.  and since today is the last day of november, the priest led us in burning the papers containing the prayer petitions for our departed loved ones.  my petition (for papa, lola, and other relatives/friends) is one of them (i dropped so in the petition box mid-november).  parang cleansing ang feeling. medyo sad din na tapos na ang month especially praying for them.

medyo ouch din, kasi napaso ako. ano ba, ria?

puberty

talaga naman! i’ve got a lousy pimple by my nostril. dang and ouch, ‘coz i still got the sniffles :p

november 28

  • i have a new o.c. idea for myself (to chart my health):  come new year, i will start tabulating all medications i’d be taking the entire year.  imagine how many antacids, paracetamol tablets, etc. that would be? i think i’d do it by month to see which parts of the year i get sick.
  • another o.c. thing i thought of:  in the car, i included a pair of surgical gloves and a pair of worker’s gloves (the knitted cloth ones that can be bought at the hardware for like Php 13) in the tools bag. for what?  to protect my hands from grease and grime when i get a flat and have to to change tires.  why two gloves pa?  the surgical gloves, to protect the hands from any matter that may seep through the cloth gloves (the former is thin and thus i can still actually feel the tools).  the cloth gloves, to give some padding and protect the surgical gloves from ripping.  hahaha.  oh well, they might come in handy…especially grease is tough to remove from the nails.  pang emergency lang naman.
  • Thanks, betty! I’m done na with your harry potter book 6.  I know of the death of D and the love-relationship developments sa story; but still, i don’t like how things turned out eh.  I hate that those who watch over harry die; i don’t like ginny for him; and i don’t like ron and hermione together. hahaha, that’s basically book 6 ah!
  • Still sick with coughs and colds.  But way better than thursday-friday.  i’ve got my voice back, but still paos (others call it bedroom voice — not funny!)
  • Kris and I went to Rizal Baseball stadium today to watch our Philippine Team play ball.  unfortunately, we got the wrong sched and came in late.  dang.  but according to the score board, our team won over Malaysia 38-0!  yep, they got nada (verified by the announcer)! we can’t believe nga how could that happen (the ateneo baseball team was so bad when we were in college, but the malaysian team is much worst pala!).  to think they stopped the game at the 5th inning kasi nga super tambak na ang Malaysian team (again, according to the announcer). Go, team Philippines! We stayed on to watch the game of Indonesia and Thailand.  T’was a fun game…but quite weird ‘coz we can’t understand a word the guys were yelling at one another.
  • Just a thought, sa SEAGames, walang 3 countries that speak the same language man lang!  Just an update, the Philippines is reaping lots of medals na! yehey.  Sana tuluy-tuloy.  And sana walang gulo throughout the games.  We were reflecting nga that it’s great we’re hosting the games.  Uplifting sa image ng Philippines kahit papaano, especially with all the negative stuff happening  in the country.  and happy that the games are held all over the country (not just in Manila).  that’s a great boost to the morale of the Filipinos and tourism industry outside Metro Manila.
  • FYI: may brother’s burger na sa magallanes commercial area. yummy burgers, fries, and mayo…go cholesterol! hahaha.
  • yehey, bumaba uli last week ang petroleum products.  another Php .50, like two or so weeks ago!
  • ang baba ng value ng US $ ngayon!  ok siguro remittances ng OFWs as xmas season na.  gosh, kung may money lang ako, i’d buy.  now is a good time to buy and surely mag-appreciate nanaman next quarter. but then, i’m so broke. huhuhu.
  • hay, tapos na ang long weekend. sabak sa trabaho uli tom.  traffic pa man din lahat ng routes ko kasi maraming SEAG delegates/athletes/supporters stay at hotels near the reclamation and malate, manila areas.
  • gosh, less than a month away, xmas na! pero, not that cool pa rin ang weather. hmm.
  • Today is the sixth death anniversary of my paternal grandmother.  We miss you, Lola Bets!
  • sick and sad again

    • happy to have met my proj. 2 relatives for lunch yesterday.  my two nieces played the noon away!
    • happy to have seen my LM friends last night.  great number of people.  sad that it was in effect our Christmas gathering already — had we known it to turn out that way, we would have been better off in a house so we could have chatted and ‘hear’ one another better.
    • last night got me thinking.  the past year of meeting old friends, it was emphasized on me that my stay in lawschool and the two bars thereafter ‘wasted’ my years away.  a lot of the people i was with in college and high school are managers of this and that company, doing good in their own/family business, have families/kids na, had travelled here and there, or are doing great abroad na.  me, i’ve just started to join the work force with (i presume) the smallest salary compared with them  (pero hay, thank goodness na nga lang rin that i’ve started already or else, i’ll feel smaller than how i do now).  the common question-greeting i get is "saan ka na?" than "kamusta ka na?"  Some pressure ‘coz the question sort of like measures you up since graduating from high school/college.  until i pass the bar exams, gusto ko na tuloy maging incognito and live a hermit life.
    • yesterday’s activities left me so drained that i feel sooo sick now.  My lungs/abdomen are painful from coughing, my nose is so red from sneezing, my throat feels like burning, and i’ve got no voice (as expected — bouts with cough makes me lose my voice ever since). With my thinking/philosophizing and physical condition, i can’t help but wallow in self-pity.   dang, i miss my dad in times like this.  when i get sick, i get all the food i like/made to fee so comfy and sort of feel ‘baby-ed.’ double dang, whenever i miss my dad, i totally feel sooooo depressed with all the forced changes in my life.  so devastatingly alone (save nanang) and different from how it had been when i was not yet a ‘real adult.’
    • sigh, this year seems like my very un-healthy year.  i’ve got flu every quarter. to think i’ve been eating healthy, drinking vitamins, not into smoking/alcohol/drugs!  must have been hexed (hmmm)!
    • a thought on my sore throat and voice-less state.  i hope whenever i get sick like this, i won’t encounter any accident/emergency that i would need to shout for help.  imagine not being able to holler for help when i would badly need assistance?  ang sad and scary!

    some thoughts during the week

    • Two weeks ago, I attended a flag ceremony in the institution I am working at  (our office was assigned to lead the Panunumpa sa Watawat).  I bet I’m the only person who got goosebumps and was actually happy to be singing the national anthem.  The reasons: (1) Yeah, I’m a geek and feel proud singing the Lupang Hinirang; and (2) I was in the presence of dignitaries (the people whose ‘works’ I read and some I truly idolize).
    • Kris and I went to our first bazaar of the season last Sunday.  Not that great and most of the people there can be quite irritating.  Medyo A-B/C crowd and organizers, but the pushing and shoving (without any curtesy words) and how makalat they were (food packs, plastic cups and bags ‘left’ anywhere) made us feel like we were in Tutuban/Divisoria.
    • Finally, Germanyhas a new chancellor…and a woman at that: si Merkel
    • Comatose pa rin si Wycoco! Shocking news.
    • LOS ANGELES - Actor Pat Morita, whose portrayal of the wise and dry-witted Mr. Miyagi in "The Karate Kid" earned him an Oscar nomination, has died. He was 73. Morita died Thursday at his home in Las Vegasof natural causes, said his wife of 12 years, Evelyn. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10202732/)
    • Local t.v has a new channel: QTV.  We watched a few minutes,  but found it medyo boring.  Parang old broadcasting kasi ang dating;llike RPN is still today.
    • TENA adult diapers had an ad at the Philippine Daily Inquirer.  Funny ‘coz below the ad is a cut-out-coupon for anyone to send to get free sample of TENA.  Mind you, you can indicate the size you want.
    • My new way to work is sooo exciting.  I see the airport and landing, taxing, boarding airplanes super up close.  Dapat in a month’s time, memorize ko na mga logo ng mga commercial airlines ‘coz I often see them na! Pero dahil sa airplanes, medyo nagiging dangerous na yung route na yun — dangerous ‘coz I keep on glancing at the planes and take my eyes off the road!
    • Speaking of airplanes, grabe ang dami than usual ang flights these days.  Super noisy at home especially during weekends.

    • Sa Seagames: Go, Team Philippines!
    • Yehey, long weekend! Super busy! May family affairs, college friends dinner, some work, and other gimmicks. Although, i am quite sick — coughs (with very sore throat), colds, and slight fever sometimes.
    • Finally, i’m currently reading Harry Potter 6: The Half-Blood Prince.  Still, i don’t like the Ron-Hermione and Harry-Ginny thingie.
    • Scene at McDo

Kris after eating: gathering the food wrappers on his tray and prepares to head to the trash bin

Ria: piling her trash on her tray and asks Kris to take it along.

Niece of Kris: Why do you do that?  Sa States lang ganyan ‘di ba?

Ria: Yes, but if we do that there; the more we should do so here in the Philippines.

    reflection

i’m such a lucky jinxed person.

    sigh

in my morning commute, i saw a toddler and a baby (held by the wife of the jeepney driver) riding in the passenger side of the jeep [weird that this is getting to be a common sight --- buong pamilya pumapasada sa jeep].  nakakaawa the kids ‘coz they breathe the smog ng jeepney route and they just munch on junk their parents buy from the street vendors.

early evening, i heard mass at the church in one makati village.  i again saw toddlers.  they were wearing cool and cute outfits.  also, they were constantly being followed by their ‘yayas’ in white uniforms.

on my way home, just a few meters from the church, i saw kids rummaging through the garbage of the nearby jollibee..salvaging what they can.

the day is just so ironic.  but surely this is just an ordinary day for the three set of kids i saw today.

    TGIF

    ·        I got the results of my lab tests.  Great that my uric acid level is low; HOWEVER, my bad cholesterol is above normal. Dang.  Reacting immediately, I went to the supermarket and bought Nesvita Pro-Heart (one sachet to try muna).  Eeeew, tasted like one of the stuff my dad used to drink when he was really weak na.  I though it was gonna taste great ‘coz I like the regular Nesvita, but heck NO! The former had no least bit of semblance with the latter!

    ·        Last night, upon the insistence of one of Kris’ nieces, we watched Harry Potter at Powerplant.  For the first time since I’ve been watching movies in Power, biglang nasira yung film about ¼ running time.  Natawa ako how people were reacting (I mean, Powerplant crowd yun eh).  There were less clapping (and mahina/pigil pa those who did); there were no whistling; but there were many grumbles.  I think some went to the ticketing office and complained.  When the film got fixed, we started complaining to “rewind” to the portions we missed (yun pa man din yung part where Dumbledor was introducing the students from the other schools visiting Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament). After a minute, they finally rectified our viewing displeasure. Nag-rewind din and ok na the rest of the film.

    ·        Before watching, we ate at McDonald’s.  Yehey, Chicken Little toys na kasama ng kiddie meals.  Kris got me one when he was in the US; but it wasn’t the baseball toy we wanted.  And so, we ended up buying kiddie meals with the said baseball Chicken Little toy for each one of us! Ha!  Ang cuuuuute!  I am actually encouraging my other friends to buy the same thing so we can have a Chicken-Little-Wound-Up-Toy-RACE! Hahaha.

    ·        Thank God, it’s Friday!
