ordinaryong mamamayan

  1. inuusisa at malaki rin ang bearing sa ibang tao ang september 2004;

news and current affairs with some comments

  • it seems like all local promos nowadays has "trip to Disneyland Hong Kong" as the major prize!
  • Category 5 Wilma prompts Keys evacuation

Hurricane Wilma, now a Category 5 storm in the western Caribbean, has the potential to cause loss of life in Florida comparable to that of Katrina, said Max Mayfield, director of the National Hurricane Center. Non-residents have been ordered to leave the Florida Keys. If Wilma is a Category 4 storm at landfall, storm surge could be 15 to 25 feet, Mayfield said. (from WWW.CNN.COM)

  • and a 6.5 earthquake in Japan!!!

  • SC junks squatters’ bid to junk Northrail! hear hear!  (read the editorial and comments at kris’ blog.  i totally agree).

  • TRO with new VAT lifted…tumaas ang prices ng fuel this week…at tataas na naman ulet.  hmmm, P38 for diesel soon.

  • Mike Arroyo back in the country…Mikey Arroyo also back to promote his upcoming movie — yuck!

  • Some "farmers" from Southern Tagalog to march to Mendiola too (altho pakana nanaman ito ng Bayan group). When will they stop?!  i hope they do not have guns like that bodyguard of non-sequitur-jamby-madrigal (gawd, i hate her ‘answers/defense’ when interviewed by the media)!

et cetera et cetera et cetera et cetera et cetera

  • underwent some (other) medical check-up today…actually, delaying tactic to go to my surgeon.  so afraid na mag-surgery na eh —- icky and hassle kasi protecting a wound! oh well, promise, within the week.
  • what a childish joy.  my niece had an inflatable PANAM airplane toy.  i was so happy with it that i asked her if i can have it.  i will tie the same onto a hook and let it float in my room.  ang happy!  i even asked my aunt to buy more inflatable planes from the ‘maglalako’ for me — different companies and colors and i will let them all ‘fly’ in my room. hahaha.  naku, bagong pauso.  dati puro glow in the dark stars lang; kaso ang dami nang may ganung ‘motif’ eh. airplanes na ko ngayon.  how apt kasi i super like airplanes din aside from astronomy!  hahaha.
  • welcome, my new room mate, mel! the person who’d be most bothered by the airplane now!
  • omg!  i am sooooo concerned.  may nanakawan daw ng bicycles dito sa village this month — two separate incidents.  oh no, simula na ng criminality.  gosh, takot and mad ako!

et cetera et cetera et cetera et cetera

  • i got a glimpse of a re-run of Cadet Kelly on Disney Channel a while ago (i saw this film a couple of years ago).  hahaha, a film during the early years of Hilary "Lizzie" Duff.  cute.
  • kris and i are wondering why this GEM TV broadcasts all day to attack the Ang Dating Daan (ADD).  weird.
  • my friend faye told me to try Globe’s good relationship reward by calling 211 with my globe handyphone postpaid line.  key in your 11-digit mobile number and follow the instructions (text CLAIM to 2279…after a message has been sent to you by globe, reply GO to 2279).  the rewards and the amount vary per account number and should you avail so, your line will be locked for another year of subscription.  try it if you like and if you’re willing to submit to the terms.  the ‘promo’ is until the end of the month. [this is not a paid ad.  heck, ako pa....i constantly complain about Globe's lousy service noh].
  • on the otherhand, SunCellular is great these days.  ang bilis nang mag-place ng calls and send texts.  altho we still do not like the company’s commercial model (JR) — weird that he’s always in his all white sleeveless ‘costume.’
  • gosh, Kris Aquino has another commercial. SMB’s Octoberfest.  goodness, we’re so sick of seeing her already — print ads, billboards, and TV.
  • my brother from LA forwarded to me an sms sent to his Smart roaming sim: "Ur roaming # has won 25k via electronic raffle for the benefit of OCW/OFW, done by Special Project Division Office…"  Of course, start pa lang, we knew hoax na ‘to.  dapat may "DTI Promo # series of 2005" and dapat coming from official Smart numbers (and not another mobile number lang).  it’s actually irritating that people do this to victimize those who do not know any better. kawawa naman those na ‘kumagat’ at naloko.  what we’re actually wondering about is how come that hoaxer knew my bro’s number is in roaming mode? may collussion kaya with some Smart personnel? Hmmm.  Anyhow, i still tried calling the number to reprimand him/her.  Wala, ni-re-reject lang ako.  And so, i just sent a hate text to him/her. haha, war freak forever!
  • I actually received a similar text last year.  the same said that i won a car and P100,000.00.  i researched the ‘company’ sa internet and affirmed my belief na hoaxer nga.  i also tried calling to reprimand the hoaxer, but can’t be reached naman.  hate text message sent to him/her na lang.
  • Gosh, PBB has such a great following pala!  some of my friends actually send sms votes din.  wow.

some promo contest…

yesterday, i got a forwarded sms message (a quotation) from a number i do not know.  being me, i had to politely ask if i knew the sender.  the latter said he got my mobile number from the resume i sent in my dream NGO in Makati. sana raw i’d get accepted.

ngiii; but funny and creepy that people other than my intended interviewer/employer got hold of and read my papers.

friday

  • BPI has completed the acquisition of Prudential Bank.  BPI’s application for the integration of Prudential Bank is currently awaiting official approval from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the SEC…Once the approvals of the BSP and the SEC are obtained, the combined commercial banking businesses of BPI and Prudential Bank will operate under BPI as the surviving entity [A Q&A on the Integration between BPI and Prudential Bank and How the Integration will affect You as a Prudential Bank Client] —- hahaha, apektado kasi.
  • it seemed like all the trucks decided to come out today and gave me an almost 2hr ride from our house to Manila. then, just when i was so near my destination, sudden downpour (surprise, surprise)! when i got off the car, ankle deep flood water.  but still i trudged on to the place i was scheduled to be interviewed. dang, was 30 minutes late. that and squishy shoes + drenched pants.  after the interview, i went out of the building with bright sunlight greeting me.  talaga naman o! i hope i’d do good with my take home ‘exam.’ keeping my fingers crossed.
  • Congratulations to Kris!  told you you’d be hired by that firm.  as for me, i’ll still stick to my battle plan. but seriously, i’m happy for you, cuz!
  • Gosh, sa 18th na ang second week?!  i think i will drink a drum of water na starting today.  yes, minor surgery lang naman compared with what my dad had been through twice before…but the pain and oozing blood just makes me so faint-hearted…and the thought that i’ll get a scar opposite my other wrist’s scar is just unbelievable.  oh well, sana pantay, if ever. hahaha.
  • selfless men and women

i found amongst my palm memo records a list of all the people who were extremely generous to have volunteered to share their blood with my dad in 2002-2003.

most were successful donors; others had  their blood tested but did not qualify or did not qualify in the Q&A form.  nevertheless, all of them are considered heroes by my family.

many thanks to all of you!

AJ, Jove, Rhoda, Von, Mel, MCH,  Abel, KB, KB’s friend (Reg),  Tito George, Francis, Andre, KB’s friend (Melissa), Bieny, Julia’s friend (Carlos), Gerard, Fritz x 2, KB’s friend (PJ), Julia’s friend (Ephraim), Jacklyn, Julia’s friend (Robert), Leo,  from Eloy x3, Kuya Jon, Kris, from Eloi x3, from Eloi x2, from Eloi x 5, from the NRC x2, Lorilei, Jojo, Ludy, July, Bets, KB’s friend (Chris), KB’s friend (Francis),  4 other KB’s friends, John, Homer, Faye, Celeste, Shey, Ems, and Julia.

many thanks also to the people who spread the word of need then and helped bring donors to lourdes hospital.  you too are our heroes.

    JOBHUNTING:

    • yesterday’s interview was good (actually, my basis for saying "good" now is whether or not i got lambasted for my grade/2004 bar exams; and not whether or not i think i will be hired.  labo noh?! haha).  but the interviewers were actually nice and there were a number of humorous moments ‘coz they were fun people.
    • today, still continued giving out resumes.
    • tomorrow, an exam/interview. i’m scared…

    NEWSFRONT:

    • My gosh, floods in U.K. too! what is happening to our world?!
    • i’m kinda irked by protests/demands of the ’squatters’ being relocated by the northrail project; doubly irked by that atty. roque!

    ET CETERA:

    • a stray thought yesterday: the dirtiest thing i own must be my bottles of alcohol and cans of lysol.  i mean everytime i think my hands/something is dirty, i reach for the said bottles/cans…and i don’t clean these containers naman after using them (heck, who does and how do you do so?!).
    • i’m so happy knowing i’ve got the greatest friends.  a couple of weeks ago, due to concern, some of them ‘kidnapped’ one kabarkada to have her heart checked to rule out certain possibilities concerning her ‘ailment.’  what a nice gesture! pero as always, weird talaga ang time zone ng 0′96 — ECG at 12am! haha.
    • a group of my friends had lunch in makati earlier this week.  as usual, we had our photo taken for remembrance’s sake.  however, as quick as the snap of the camera, one friend’s bag (with all her valuables and mobile phone inside) suddenly disappeared.  dang, a snatcher got it and got away with it!  we searched the restaurant high and lo, asked the other customers if they’ve noticed anyone taking the bag, and questioned all the waiters/staff.  nada.  then, in middle of the week, someone called my friend to inform her that said caller found some of her cards amongst the ‘basura’ they allegedly rummage through. she should claim the cards daw at the place the caller designated.  shady set up, eh?!  after all safety pre-cautionary moves, my friend was able to retrieve her cards (just some of her cards…other stuff weren’t amongst the ‘basura’ daw).  lesson is, whenever we have "’kodak’ moments," instead of saying "cheese,"  we should now say, "grab your bags!" — longer line to say, but still creates a smile and secures our belongings from snatchers.
